Dear Fellow Georgia Educators:
The Georgia Association of Accounting Educators (GAAE) belongs to you. As committed educators, you enrich the lives and expand the futures of your students. Please allow this Association to be a resource to help you fulfill that noble cause. As temporary managers of your Association, the role of the officers of the Board is to to carry out your desires for the organization. Do not hesitate to contact any one of us for any reason.
With the objective of helping you in your profession, we’d like to invite you to the 2019 annual meeting of the GAAE with the following Theme:
“Preparing students for 21st Century Accounting!”
The 2019 meeting will be held at the Conference Center at the beautiful Lake Blackshear Resort, in Cordele, GA on Friday, February 8 and Saturday, February 9, 2019. On Friday we will have a great keynote speech based on implementing sustainability in accounting curriculum as well as several concurrent presentations. On Saturday we will have two concurrent workshops based on teaching with current 21st Century technology. The concurrent workshops and sessions presented by our colleagues and friends of the Association will focus on what works in our classrooms. They will include discussion of critical content innovations and techniques and how we can use those techniques to continue to prepare our students for 21st Century Accounting and workplace.
It is my hope that what we learn at the conference will help us to constantly and critically evaluate our courses; to enhance or overhaul teaching materials and technology so that our students are better able to meet and thrive in the changing accounting environment. We will benefit from your research and teaching presentations, about what you see as needing change in the accounting curricula to address demands in the field of accounting.
Please make a commitment to present at the meeting. Your colleagues will benefit from what you have to say. The annual meeting is the main venue we have to learn from each other; it always provide me with significant and meaningful pedagogical information. GAAE is one of the more visible associations of accounting educators on the web. Let us continue to keep our organization strong and vibrant. We expect an exciting and well attended event in 2019!
Your GAAE colleagues look forward to seeing you at Lake Blackshear next February to create and renew relationships. You will find an opportunity to learn, network, and discuss your ideas in an informal and relaxed setting.
My best regards for a great academic year 2018-2019!
